Our Crazy Summer

When I returned to school for the 2013-2014 school year, I was asked many times, "How was your summer, Ruthie?"  Well, I thought about going through everything, but decided not to and just answered, "Busy, but great!"  Here is what I could have said…

It was fantastic because we spent a day going on a "journey" to the Indianapolis Children's Museum.  They have fantastic activities to do and see and we had a blast!  Anderson's favorite was the Spiderman on the wall and after each activity, he wanted to go see Spiderman.  Ha!

We also spent some time at the splash park on Beckley Stations Road.  If you haven't gone there, make some time to do it!  Anderson doesn't like the splash park part as much as he likes the water fountain part.

We practiced swimming (and sliding)!

The Kittlesons taught Anderson how to fish (well, at least how to play around while other people are fishing).

We picked some strawberries at Hubers.  It was really hard to not eat them out there.  We kept reminding ourselves that that would be stealing.

We frequented the zoo…

and the Science Center…

and the park.

We took a weekend trip to the Cincinnati area and went to King's Island, which is a totally different, but fun experience with a toddler.  They have a "Peanuts" world that is awesome!  Anderson danced with the characters and had a great time on the rides (which he was barely tall enough for - 36 inches).

They also had "Dinosaur's Alive" while we were there and Anderson liked it a lot…for the first 40 minutes.  It was kind of a long adventure, but we came out of it with smiles on our faces.

We went to the Newport Aquarium while we were there.  It was a good time, but if it were up to Anderson, we would have seen all the sea creatures in 15 minutes.  He bolted through and we had to stop him to show him the actual animals.

He got pretty tight with the penguins, but when he actually saw them, he just used it as a time to practice taking stairs and practice racing.

A Red's game completed our trip.  Anderson didn't care much for the baseball, but really enjoyed the food and the fireworks that went off every time someone hit a home run!  The walk across the bridge was fun too, especially for Anderson who didn't actually have to walk.

This Summer, Anderson's Grandma threw a week long party for her boat.  It turned 50 (I think) and she rented a houseboat for the family.  We had a blast!  Anderson got to spend lots of time with his family and got used to lake life pretty quickly.

…And toward the end of the summer, we said good bye to our house of ten years and we moved.  It was a lot more work than I anticipated, but Anderson was there to help!

It all happened fast after we got the house ready to sell because our amazing realtor, Mike Fogle, sold our house in 4 days…whew!  We didn't even have a new house picked out.

Mike was with us the whole way though, and took us out to see lots of houses!  We finally found THE ONE and could not be happier with it!

So, how was our Summer? Busy, but great!
